  • HIV and AIDS can be treated, but not cured. Not yet.
     
  • HIV/AIDS weakens a person's immune system, making it more likely for the person to catch other illnesses.
     
  • All people - rich and poor, young and old, men and women - can contract HIV if they don't take care of themselves. There are people infected with HIV/AIDS in nearly every country in the world, including many children. Also, many children become orphaned by AIDS when their parents become sick and die.
