Singapore Youth Summit 2005

The participants walked away with buttons that read: “Working for a World Free of Poverty” as well as a broadened understanding about the world around them.

“It was excellent. I learnt much more about the world around me than any textbook could have taught. It was an enriching experience which I would love to experience again,” said Shan Wong, 16.

“It opened me to a lot things that I only get to hear about but never really get to see and know in great detail,” explained Syarifah Hafizah, 16.

“It definitely widened by perspective of life,” concluded Siti Syuhada Faizal, 20.

And for the World Bank, this youth seminar was one in a series of events that are connecting the Bank and young people. The World Bank office in Singapore plans to keep up its conversations and activities with youth especially since the 2006 World Bank Group/IMF Annual Meetings will be held in Singapore in the fall of that year.
